A little over a year ago, our team at the Every Home headquarters conducted a very important study. At the time, we knew that the Every Home global fellowship included tens of thousands of volunteers all across the globe. These volunteers are engaged in the local church in their region, and are mobilized and equipped by Every Home staff to bear witness of the love of Jesus to their own community. This has always been the strength of the ministry, and is essential to our numerous outreach initiatives all over the world. While we knew the number of volunteers was large, we wanted to understand more about the characteristics and qualities of these volunteers. What this study revealed was profound. A large majority of Every Home volunteers are women. The life-changing message of Jesus’ immeasurable love motivates these women to volunteer their precious time and energy to creatively and courageously bear witness of the gospel in their villages, towns, cities, and nations.

Women have always played an essential part in the Christian tradition. Jesus demonstrated his value for women in profound ways throughout the Gospels. One of the most well-known stories is the story of the woman at the well (John 4). In this story, Jesus purposefully took time to interact with a woman who had come to draw water in the middle of the day from a well. This woman was a Samaritan, an ethnic group whom the Jews despised and self-righteously did not associate with. As Jesus was sitting alone, waiting for his disciples to return from town with lunch, he struck up a conversation with her. She was deeply suspicious of him at first. Not only was she a Samaritan and he a Jew, but she also was a woman. Men typically did not associate with women in a casual manner in this culture. However, Jesus dignified this woman by truly seeing her. He told her things about her that a stranger could have never known, and gave her insight into who he is, the Messiah. This woman became a witness of Jesus to her own community in such a powerful way that John tells us Jesus and his disciples ended up staying in the Samaritan town for two days. Many came to believe in Jesus because of this woman’s testimony.

Undoubtedly, this story demonstrates the power of Jesus genuinely seeing us, which leads to us seeing Jesus for who he truly is, and allowing his love to change us. Then, like the woman at the well, we become witnesses of him to our own community. However, this story also tells us something about how God values and uses women. Jesus transcends cultural barriers and empowers women to receive and tell of his life-changing love. The spread of the message of early Christianity was fueled by women who were changed by the truth of the Gospel.

The love of Jesus continues to change the lives of women across the globe.

Today, we still find that the love of Jesus continues to change the lives of women across the globe. We also know that women are essential in the Kingdom of God. We are aware of the God-given power of women who spread the love of God to their communities by engaging with the ministry and vision of Every Home. For this reason, we have begun developing resources to elevate the voices of the women of Every Home.

This website, which we are calling Woven, encourages and empowers the women of the global fellowship of Every Home to embrace their identities, voices, and callings in Christ. We seek to create a meaningful place to connect, belong, and grow through relevant resources and relationships. The goal of this website is highlight the stories of women around the world who are intentionally seeing Jesus, and are telling others of his goodness in unique and inspiring ways. This is also a place to connect and feel empowered through resources and information that spiritually nourish and encourage women globally.

We strongly believe that God values, loves, and empowers all of us. Just as a beautiful tapestry is woven with individual threads in the hands of a maker to create a work of art, we believe that God is weaving something sacred in each of our individual lives. We seek to serve you on your journey, and find community together as we encounter Jesus, and bear witness of his love to those around us.

This is an awesome website. Well done Woven team. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading these articles.

    Thank you so much.

  • Hello sisters!

I’m super excited for Woven to take off with more stories & involvement. Kudos to the women who envisioned it!

It’s been the privilege of my life to serve the women in my community in Cyprus.

We all come from different backgrounds and languages yet we have so much in common- Jesus, clothes, good fitting bras, etc.

We just started a Clothes Ministry and it’s been a great tool to witness Christ to others and invite them to church. I’ve realized people have much more in common with one another than we do differences.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Colossians 3:12
