In 1989, Dee Eastman wrote a letter to the women on the field of the Every Home for Christ ministry. It would be the first of many. These letters grew into an exchange called the Ladies’ Link, and they continued for many years, including words of encouragement from Dee and other women in the ministry, book excerpts, prayers, poems, and more.
At a time when women and their sacrificial contribution to the ministry were regularly overlooked, Dee opened the door for the women of Every Home to connect with the ministry and with one another. She fostered a culture that embraced the value of simply seeing each other and being seen.
As we develop Woven — this initiative to serve and engage the women of Every Home — our hope is that it all feels deeply woven into the tapestry of Dee’s heart and legacy. We want to embrace her calling to see and validate the women of this ministry. With her blessing, we want to move forward in the invitation she heard from the Lord to facilitate spiritual community formed around our shared love for Jesus and reliance on his spirit.
Today, we still find that the love of Jesus continues to change the lives of women across the globe. We also know that women are essential in the Kingdom of God. We are aware of the God-given power of women who spread the love of God to their communities by engaging with the ministry and vision of Every Home. For this reason, we have begun developing resources to elevate the voices of the women of Every Home.
Our hope is that it all feels deeply woven into the tapestry of Dee’s heart and legacy.
In Dee’s first letter, she referenced Isaiah 50:4:
The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples, so that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens Me morning by morning, he awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
We hold this verse before us today as a prayer for the Woven community of Every Home women. May the Lord give us all the tongues of disciples — humble, wholehearted followers of Christ. May we know how to sustain one another with our words. And may we be awakened morning by morning to listen at the feet of Jesus.
Wow, how cool is this!! Love, Love Love !!!!
